A freelance n8n developer to set up, fix and look after your workflows
I work as an independent n8n developer. I set up n8n, either on n8n Cloud or on a server you control, build your workflows, fix the ones that broke and keep an eye on them over time. You deal with one person, from the first call to maintenance, and every workflow is documented so someone else could take it over.

Common situations
Why hire an n8n freelancer?
- 01
You picked n8n, but have no time to learn it.
It is a powerful tool, but you need to understand triggers, how data moves from one step to the next, and error handling.
- 02
A workflow stopped, and nobody knows why.
The person who built it left or stopped replying. Orders or follow-ups have not gone out for days.
- 03
n8n runs on a server nobody watches.
No updates, no backups, no alerts. Everything is fine until the day the server goes down.
What I do
What an n8n developer does for you
Four jobs, together or separately. We always start with the one that costs you the most time.
- 01
n8n setup
On n8n Cloud, hosted by n8n, or on a server in your name, in the region you choose. Accounts and credentials are created on your side, not mine. Backups and alerts are configured from day one.
- 02
Workflow building
Quote follow-ups, CRM sync, invoices, reports, email triage, AI steps. Each workflow is tested on dummy data first, then checked with you before it touches real data.
- 03
Fixing a broken workflow
I read the execution history, find the failing step and the cause (expired credentials, an app that changed, unexpected data), fix it, then re-run what got stuck.
- 04
Maintenance
Maintenance is a 6-month monthly plan, which can be extended, and the first month is free. During the plan, every defect found, one or several, gets fixed.
Before setup
n8n Cloud or self-hosted?
Both run the same workflows. The difference is who manages the server, and where your data goes.
| Criteria | n8n Cloud | Self-hosted n8n |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs the server | n8n, fully managed | You, or the provider you hire for maintenance |
| Getting started | Create an account, nothing to install | Install on a server (usually with Docker) |
| Cost | Subscription paid to n8n, by plan | Free Community edition, plus the server and the upkeep time |
| Updates, backups | Handled by n8n | Your responsibility: the part people forget |
| Where data lives | On n8n's infrastructure | On the server you choose |
| Best for | A company with no technical person in-house | Sensitive data, high volume, or maintenance handed to a provider |
n8n's own documentation recommends Cloud for teams without technical expertise, and says self-hosting requires technical skills for installation and configuration, with maintenance being "your responsibility". Without a license key, self-hosted n8n runs as the free Community edition. Cloud prices change often, so I don't copy them here: see the n8n pricing page, or my n8n vs Make vs Zapier comparison.
Broken workflow
How I fix a broken workflow
Even when I didn't build it. The rule: understand before touching anything, and never re-run on live data without your go-ahead.
read access
Inventory
You give me access to your n8n. I list the active workflows, the ones failing, and since when.
execution history
Diagnosis
I go through the failed runs to find the blocking step and the real cause, not just the error message.
your approval
Proposal
I explain the cause in plain words, what I suggest fixing, and what needs a manual re-run.
test data
Fix
I fix a copy, test it on dummy data, then put the fixed version back into service.
together
Catch-up
We re-run what got stuck (orders, follow-ups, invoices) together, checking for duplicates.
going forward
Prevention
An alert when a run fails, written documentation, and what to do if a connected app changes.
n8n or Make
What is the difference between n8n and Make?
I work with both. Pricing and billing models are covered in the n8n vs Make vs Zapier article.
- Hostingthe real difference
- n8n can be installed on your own server. Make only runs online, on its own infrastructure.
- Billingwhat gets counted
- n8n counts workflow executions, however many steps they have. Make counts credits, usually one per action. On long, frequent workflows, the gap shows.
- Learning curvewho maintains it
- Make is easier to pick up alone for short flows. n8n is more technical, but lets you write code in a step when a connector is missing.
- My adviceby case
- A few simple flows, no sensitive data: Make is often enough. Volume, data you want to keep on your side, or AI steps you need to control: n8n.
Honestly
What I don't promise
A good workflow is one someone else can take over.
- No "certified n8n expert" title.I don't hold an n8n certification. I show you my method and a mockup built on your case, and you decide on that basis.
- No self-hosted n8n without someone to maintain it.If nobody handles updates and backups, n8n Cloud is the safer choice.
- No reselling n8n as a service.n8n's license lets a provider build and maintain workflows for clients and charge for that work. It does not allow hosting n8n as a service where clients build their own workflows. Your workflows run on your instance.
- No automating an unstable process. If the rules change every month, we settle them first. Otherwise the workflow breaks at every change.
FAQ
n8n freelancer: your questions
Are you a certified n8n expert?
No, I don't hold an n8n certification. I work as an independent n8n developer: I build, fix and maintain workflows. Before any quote, I build a free mockup on your case so you can judge the work itself.
Can you take over a workflow someone else built?
Yes. I start with an inventory using access to your n8n, find the cause of the failure, explain what I suggest fixing, then fix a tested copy before putting it back into service.
Should I choose n8n Cloud or self-hosted?
Without a technical person to run a server, Cloud is simpler. Self-hosting makes sense for sensitive data or high volume, as long as someone handles updates and backups.
How much does an n8n developer cost?
It depends on the number of workflows, the apps to connect and the edge cases. After the free call and the demo of your free mockup, you get a fixed-price quote. The n8n Cloud subscription or the server is paid separately, directly to the provider.
How does maintenance work?
Maintenance is a 6-month monthly plan, which can be extended, and the first month is free. During the plan, every defect found gets fixed. After that, monthly maintenance is offered, never required.
Who owns the workflows?
You do, once the invoice is paid: the workflows, the credentials and the documentation. Most of the time I also keep access to make maintenance easier. If you'd rather I didn't, just tell me.
